Tuition

Tuition fees at Notre Dame Senior Secondary School amount to the equivalent of $ 450 (converted at March 2008 rates) per year. This fee covers classes, room and board. If parents cannot afford to pay for tuition, there are other ways of financing a student’s education at the school:

  • In their spare time the students can work on the fields or help with household chores to pay for part of the tuition fees.
  • The Ghanaian government offers scholarships through a program called Cocoa Board to daughters whose parents are cocoa planters from Ghana.
  • Girls without financial means or girls with one parent can apply to the School Sisters of Notre Dame for a scholarship. These scholarships are financed through donations.
  • Several students from Ghana are sponsored to enable them to attend Notre Dame Senior Secondary School. These sponsorships are organized by the sister school in Munich and by the congregation.

Despite all these efforts, it does happen that students interrupt or drop out of school for financial reasons.
